Thank you for supporting A-SPAN’s Spring Event & Volunteer Hall of Fame Awards. With your help, we raised over $35,000 for our homeless programs in Arlington, including nearly $5,000 for our Make-It-A-Home fund! Stories on our event have appeared in The Washington Post and the Sun Gazette! Photos of the night can be seen on Flickr or on Facebook. Please see our sponsor page for a special thanks to our event sponsors.

Board President Meg Tuccillo opened the night by welcoming more than 200 guests to the beautiful Signature Theatre and introducing the Honorary Chair, Delegate Patrick Hope (D-47th). After sharing how he was surprised and honored to be asked to chair the event, he added, “A-SPAN, to me, is the gold standard - their sole mission is to help our most vulnerable population.”

Congressman Jim Moran made a surprise appearance and spoke after Delegate Hope, saying, “A-SPAN in so many ways defines the community of Arlington. When people are there for you, it makes a world of difference. That’s the way you measure a community.”

Entrants into the Hall of Fame were Art Baltrym, the Central United Methodist Church, and Brad & Hugh Calkin of Shirlington Self Storage.

established a safe and welcoming environment for homeless individuals at their church every Friday morning for the past two years. Not only have the healthy meals provided been beneficial to these individuals, but the regular contact with smiling and friendly faces has built trust which has in turn allowed A-SPAN and County staff to assist many more people in need.
